What a wonderful weekend! :D

Finally I got to see what Aerial yoga is all about! It was challenging but I very much enjoyed it. Who doesn't love hanging upside down?

Afterwards I went to the Hussy Hicks gig. My third time seeing them and they still amaze me with their talent. Wow can they ever sing and play guitar.
As fate would have it I ran into the hiking man from Minyon falls while at the gig. I had my first experience as a 'couchsurfer' and it was such a wonderful night. I was in good company for the evening and also Sunday in which we went to the markets. I feel blessed to have met them. They are such beautiful people inside and out.
While walking back from the markets we saw this unusual cloud
I'm still in Lismore and quite enjoying it. The people here are all very nice.

Alcohol sux

My blurb for the day: don't drink alcohol because it sucks the life out of you!
While working on my ayurveda assignment today I read that while drinking you become more relaxed because alcohol dilates your blood vessels. However, 6 hours later it constricts them which deprives your body of oxygen and thus life force (aka Prana) and of course kills brain cells. You'll know this feeling when you have a headache the morning after a night of drinking. Prana is low and your body is warning you of this fact. Lack of life force makes a person sad and depressed and creates a domino effect of other diseases and imbalances. Same thing goes for smoking which is even worse. Alcohol also converts to sugar which stimulates the release of more insulin and overworks your pancreas. As we all know, it's also very hard on the liver. The liver is associated with anger and if you start to create imbalances for your good old friend liver than he may just strike back and throw some anger your way. Lastly, it's an ego booster. Society is already full of too much ego. Hopefully this message will stick in your mind the next time you go to consume those toxins and you'll grab some oxygenated water instead. Mmmmmm life force!! :)

Update

I have now relocated to a town called Lismore. I am officially on my own and loving it that way :D
Before leaving Byron Bay I did get up to see the lighthouse. It was a steep hike up to the top of the hill but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I decided that it was time for a change and spent a day at Organic dreadlocks where Paul and Stefan added 16" dread extensions to my hair. I have hair again!

They were such wonderful guys to spend a day with and they did an amazing job. They showed me how to maintain my dreads and I even helped make a couple of them. The dread shed is located out of town and this is the amazing view from the balcony. The picture doesn't do it justice, it was stunning.
While in Lismore, I made friends with a local who showed me some of the Lookouts at night. The weather here has been unusually warm for winter. Last night was perfectly warm and still with gentle showers. I introduced my new friend to geocaching and we stayed out until 1a.m driving through the back country to find treasures. We went along the bank of a creek, visited a graveyard, trekked through mud, went through barbed-wire fence, and got bit by thorns. It was fantastic! Spending time in nature, at night, with good company looking for treasure is definitely at the top of my list for fun things to do. Here is a picture of our favourite cache that we found.
It's a long canister tied to a tree. This was Dan's first find so he got to keep the pirate's treasure which was inside of it.
The next treasure we found was a trackable! This one travelled all the way from Germany! I'm going to take it back to Perth with me so that it travels across Australia.
Feeling in much better spirits thanks to some good times in nature and even more so from the phone calls I've had with my amazing friends and family.
Love you guys! Thanks for the support and keep up with the blog comments. I love hearing from everyone :)

Minyon Falls, New South Wales

Today I took a long but fun hike through Minyon Falls trails. The start of the trail begins at the top of the waterfall which has a 100 meter drop off from the lookout point. I was a bit nervous being so high up on a little wooden, slippery deck.
The hiking trail was meant to guide us to the base of the waterfalls. It was unlike any trail that I've seen in Canada. I trudged through water and mud, climbed up rocks and over fallen trees wearing on my feet only thongs or sometimes nothing. During the hike I found another type of Eucalyptus tree called Eucalyptus Signata aka Scribbly Gum. I didn't manage to get a picture of the tree, only the writing about it. I will go back again and be sure to get a good picture.
These are some of the other beautiful trees and scenery which I saw

The palm tree in this picture is called a Bangalow Palm which grows red fruit and feeds the possums and birds.
The direction maps were terribly written and very confusing. I quickly lost Wazza and headed down the wrong path. I eventually found the base of the falls. It was worth the effort.

At the base there was yet another confusing map and I almost got lost a second time. Fortunately a local steered me in the right direction and showed me the shortest way back to the top. He shared his water, apple, and stories with me and made sure that I found my way back to the parking lot where I finally found Wazza a couple of hours after his disappearance.

Coolangatta, Queensland

Last weekend I traveled to Queensland and stopped in Coolangatta which is along the coast and has beautiful beaches. It was strange to see the skyscrapers so close to the shore line.

We came across this large antique store that you could get lost in. It was crammed full of many cool items. They also had a barber shop at the front of the shop. It was classic and I also got a great deal on an old suitcase to keep my clothes in.
This picture is only showing approximately 1/4 of the store
This is a picture of my favourite item...an old doctors bag.
Afterwards we went to visit a couple of Wazzas friends. Here's how many Aussies get to live...Life must be tough :) They built this lounge/bar area themselves. It was fabulous!

Once we returned back to Byron Bay I made a curry paste from scratch with fresh ingredients and added it with Tofu noodles and vegetables. This one's for you again Taylor :) I put the Taro in with this and it was so delicious! I actually enjoyed tofu because it didn't just taste like a sponge in my mouth!
